Mbombela Gogos shine at international soccer tournament

The Mpumalanga premier showed his support for the soccer gogos and hailed their success in the tournament.

Despite losing in the semi-finals, the Mbombela Senior Citizens Football Club, dubbed the Mbombela Gogos, showcased some football skills at the 2025 Grannies International Football Tournament.

This team reached the semi-finals of the tourney held at Nkowankowa Stadium in Tzaneen in Limpopo from April 3 to 5.

They played against the grannies from France, called the Le Zamies Foot, on April 4 and led the first half with three goals to two.

The Mbombela Gogos’ fortunes turned around and the French ladies managed to secure two more goals in the second half, leading them to a win and qualify for the final.
